Week 1 Fantasy Football
Dynasty Download
September 09, 2022
On a weekly basis, the Fantasy Beast will be providing a Dynasty Download article to our readers. This will be an article 100% dedicated to Dynasty leagues, and will include news, notes, and players you should keep an eye on.
This week's article is focused on players that have been in the league a few years. This includes several players that you should keep an eye on this year and potentially buy or sell given their performance.
Keep an eye on 3rd year receivers
This theory has been out there for years. But players who are going into their 3rd year in the NFL are said to have their breakout season in their career. This is based on the fact that it takes most wide receivers 2 years to get acquainted with the league and comfortable in the offense. Some players to keep an eye on that are going into their 3rd year: Ceedee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, and Chase Claypool. Justin Jefferson was left off of that list for obvious reasons - this man has clearly already broken out.
Age 26 Running Backs - Beware and Sell
There is a philosophy that at the age of 26, running backs tend to begin declining in fantasy, and NFL production. Looking at last season alone, the following elite running backs all played at the age of 26 or older: Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Austin Ekeler, James Conner, Aaron Jones, and Cordarrelle Patterson. This theory does not mean that these running backs won't perform at an elite level after the age of 26 (see Derrick Henry and Cordarrelle Patterson from last season), it just means that their window of opportunity is closing, and you should cash in while you still can. If you have any of the running backs listed above, and you are not competing for a title this year, trade them for a kings ransom - ideally before the season begins. Their value is still incredibly high, so target a contending team to receive future building blocks for your team.
Begin Preparing for the 2023 Rookie Draft Class
Unless you are a contender, you should be trying to grab as many 1st and 2nd round picks in the 2023 rookie draft class as you can. The 2023 class is one of the most anticipated draft classes in recent years. It is expected to be loaded with running back talent, which is perfect for rebuilding teams.
